Mareit and the surrounding area offers many possibilities to hike or climb the mountains. In the Ridnaun valley as well as in the Ratschings, Pfitsch, Jaufen and Pflersch valley there are beautiful footpaths with charming mountain huts to have a rest. These are famous for their homemade products such as the "Graukäse", a kind of cheese, or the fresh milk from the cows.

In the Pflersch and the Ratschings valley and next to Sterzing (Roßkopf) you will find cable railways that take you up to an absolutely fascinating mountain scenery.

Gilfenklamm

A natural spectacle unique in South Tyrol is the so-called Gilfenklamm. Along wooden footpaths you can walk through waterfalls and watch the beautiful nature that shows itself from its most passionate side. Definitely worth seeing!

Mining in Ridnaun

For all of you who like to travel back in history, the Museum of Mining in Ridnaun is a "must". You can gain a lively insight into the hard and dangerous life of the qualified miners of the time and all the heydays and the not so favourable times of the mines.
